A Tribute to Late Ms Sangeeta Dungdung, Nursing Officer (Outsource) AIIMS Patna. She passed away on 29th October 2023.
Ms. Sangeeta Dungdung nursing officer was working in B6B ICU on an outsourced basis (Bedi & Bedi) PID 7280 for the last 5 years in All India Institute of Medical Sciences Patna. On 2nd July morning, she came to the emergency department at 9 a.m. with complaints of weakness in both upper and lower limbs followed by slurred speech. Within a few moments, her condition deteriorated and she was immediately mechanically ventilated because of suspecting GBS/AIDP. She was the breadwinner and belonged to a poor family, she was not the beneficiary of any Government health scheme or EHS.

So through her incharge ANS Thomas and Sarvjith requested for waving of treatment expenses, with the help of Dr Neeraj Kumar Consultant Anesthesia and by AIIMS Patna Nurses Union the request was given for considering the exemption of her treatment expenses during ICU and hospital stay. This request was considered by MS sir Prof.DR.C.M Singh on priority and recommended to the Director’s office. The requested amount of approximately Rs.320340 was approved on a priority basis by the Director Prof.G.K Pal. Meanwhile, her colleagues and well-wishers collected some amount for her treatment expenses till the arrival of the amount from AIIMS. She underwent medication including IV immunoglobulin and 20gm required which cost Rs.25068 per day) and 125340 for 5 days. She stayed in T11ICU and later at B5B ICU for around 2 months. She was improving from disease condition and all the Doctors nurses and her colleagues were in the hope that she would recover soon. AIIMS Patna medical team provided her a holistic care


As per the decision of her family members, she was shifted to her native place private hospital in Jharkhand on 19/09/2023 for further treatment. On the 29th evening, we received the news from her family members that she had passed away around 5 p.m. On 1/11/23 a condolence meeting was conducted at AIIMS Patna administrative building by AIIMS Patna Nurses Union.
The director, DDA, Dean, Medical Superintendent, CNO, Nursing Superintendent, Assistant Nursing Superintendents and nursing officers, paid homage to her. We all pray for the departed soul and the bereaved family to overcome this hard situation.

She was my colleague at T11 icu aiims patna . She was very hard working and ready to provide best possible nursing care to her patients . She has contributed this society in difficult times of covid 19 also when every one was worried for their own life she was ready to do duties in covid 19 wards also . I salute to such a warrier who did her duties tirelessly during covid also . May her soul rest in peace and may his family also find peace .
