One angle of my nursing life

I introduced myself by saying, “It was my parent’s wish for me to be a part of this profession.” I didn’t have any interest in the medical field due to fear.

It was my first month in college and I was enjoying everything except for my anatomy class. The class was being held in a dissection room with all human body parts laid out on the table. All classes were scheduled either just before or after the lunch break and so it was my loss as I couldn’t eat. Our clinical instructor was excited to take us for the post-mortem view which made me feel pathetic and scared me more with all the questions in my head. I was not prepared for this and there were many like me who were dealing with the same. But a few friends of mine took permission and attended several cases. We reached the internship and few of my friends were interested to attend these sessions again.

This made me feel that even I should for at least once take these classes. And with few friends, we got the privilege to participate. With a courageous heart, I entered but stood at the back. The post-mortem started and all the procedures were done. The doctor said, “Next time study in detail and come for more clarity.” This was my last day of internship.

My journey started with postmortem and ended with the same. I wish I could have taken that step and said yes before.

All I am left with now is only regret!
