Jhalawar, Rajasthan, India.

In an unfortunate incident, 100 nurses resigned together from the public hospital in Jhalawar, Rajasthan. It is said that all these nurses were working on a contract basis since years, where their current salary in total was no more than 6400 INR per month.

Several times these nurses have raised their concerns in a democratic way to the government but to no avail. Recently these nurses approached Dean of the Medical College, under which the hospital is; to hear that ‘you are not our employees but of the contractor, so raise concerns to the contractor and not no us’.

District Magistrate was an approach as well.

Finally, they had to come to the unfortunate decision in which they have to resign amongst the COVID-19 pandemic.

The nurses have now decided to not leave the world in the midst of chaos but to work as volunteers provided the hospital provides them with proper personal protective equipment.
